Type name / number: Ascota (Klasse) 314 (Electrical motor driven)
The 314 is produced at the VEB Secura Werke Berlin, which was first part of the Kombinat Zentronic (Headquarter in Erfurt). Daro is the brand / logo of this Kombinat, which was later merged under the VEB Kombinat Robotron in 1979.
Production / SN: 314-785661
Calculating principle: Rocking Segment technology and Ten key keyboard
Calculating functions: Add, Subtract and short Multiplication
Input accuracy 12 digits (for multiplication 1x11- or 6x6 digits)
Calculating accuracy: 12 digits
Extra's: The short multiplication is implemented via an extra register on the bottom of the machine! This means multiplying for instance time 9 is first times ten (one digit higher) and minus one, so in two cycles, much shorter than in the nine cycles.
Back annotation of the result??
Very fast 170 instructions / minute are specified.
Like all the 1xx and 3xx series the motor is not directly connected to the machine main axis, it has a clutch in between (see machine story of the first machine)
Designer: ?

Previous owner: A. Heise, Rackwitz (Leipzig area), Sachsen, Germany
Cosmetic imperfections:
(I accuse no one)
Hardly to find any. The case is little darker at some places due to sun light. Internally the power resistor is losing its green cover.

Machine story: 2012-09-22
A noisy operation of the "out of the box test". First check, the motor was not fixed mounted to the machine main axis. The bolt was completely out. Found it on the bottom plate.
The radio interference circuit is having the traditional failure: motor starts to turn in the idle situation after a minute use (has to replace the unit or place new capacitors).
The power resistor is losing the green cover partly, parts of it lays on the bottom plate to.

The paper role was already used over the complete roll on the other paper side. Never seen an 6cm in diameter roll like this, perfectly rolled up.

Placed a new ink ribbon.

The calculation check fails on the multiplication first, but after studying the multiplication mechanism and compare the two machines, a pawl was not in the right position, perhaps due to the force of pressed air during cleaning. After turning that in the right position, the multiplication was performing well! See the yellow arrow on the first picture.

I opened the RFI avoidence unit and removed the components and installed the spark avoidence resistor and capacitor over the switch. Make some pictures of the complete machine who is 100% in working order again!
