Type name / number: Ascota (Klasse) 314 (Electrical motor driven; Robotron on the front label)
The 314 is produced at the VEB Secura Werke Berlin, which was first part of the Kombinat Zentronic (Headquarter in Erfurt). Daro is the brand / logo of this Kombinat, which was later merged under and as well part of the VEB Kombinat Robotron in 1979.
Production / SN: 314-986234
Calculating principle: Rocking Segment technology and Ten key keyboard
Calculating functions: Add, Subtract and short Multiplication
Input accuracy 12 digits (for multiplication 1x11- or 6x6 digits)
Calculating accuracy: 12 digits
Extra's: The short multiplication is implemented via an extra register on the bottom of the machine! This means multiplying for instance time 9 is first times ten (one digit higher) and minus one, so in two cycles, much shorter than in the nine cycles.
Back annotation of the result??
Very fast 170 instructions / minute are specified.
Like all the 1xx and 3xx series the motor is not directly connected to the machine main axis, it has a clutch in between (see machine story of the first machine)
Designer: ?
Production year: Short before 1983 (due to buying on 15 Nov. 1983 of the previous and first owner)
Case material: plastic

Previous owner: Mr. S. Ziersch, Calau, Sachsen, Germany
Cosmetic imperfections:
(I accuse no one)
Hardly to find any. The plastic case is highly susceptible for coloring by sunlight. This one is nearly not effected. Internally extremely clean and in perfect condition! No cleaning or oiling necessary / performed!! Even the ink ribbon was functional.
Date of receiving: 2012-11-13
Machine story: 2012-10-19
Machine was blocked on arrival. The motor uncoupled, with the half circle, blue metal, clutch. Analyzing the machine behavior, manual activation with a screw driver, showed a stiff lever, left below on the machine, from behind to nearly the key board, which was stopped / against an frame plate. Make this lever free to move solved the blocking. I had an earlier machine having the same. At that time I thought is was effected by transportation. But...
I saw at the closer look and a few times tried the reset lever, that the same spring was loosing. as the one of the 3e machine, which causes the mall function there. This spring connected again.
The stopped lever was as well in this hiding area, and not so easy the activate, but a warning: Be careful with and move only the reset lever. Avoid to affect others!!!

Calculation including multiplication test passed!!
