The first check showed that the machine is completely blocked. The case removed and after some tries on the keyboard was working again. The key board is based on a complete different mechanism as the later versions (the 8 and 9(S) types).
The handle is free now, but does not take the rocking segments with him in the action. Have to see what is holding- / prevent them from doing so.

No fault could be found in the mechanisms, loose spring or
arm etc. The print mechanism demount, to see if that was operating well. It was moving with friction but obviously not the reason. And after oiling this unit it was performing well again.
Last thing to check was the shock breaker. The unit who temporize the action from to fast manual action on the handle. This unit uncoupled and bingo. This unit didn't allows any movement. The handle could now set all the needed mechanisms in action for an adding ; subtracting and the total sum / reset. All seems to work properly. Later test with print unit shows that this was the right conclusion.
The ebonite internal plate in the shock breaker is gone. This has reacted with the oil inside. Cleaning that shows a well working break again. Mount it in the machine again and it was working properly.
Made some pictures of the complete cleaned and good functioning machine and placed on the site. |
