Type name / number: Madas -20ATG
Production / SN: 75800
Calculating principle: Stepped Drum
Calculating functions: Add, Subtract, Divide and automatic divide, Multiply and automatic Multiply ; Full automat
Input accuracy 2x10 digits
Calculating accuracy: 20 digits
Extra's: Extra flap window on the lower 7 digits of register IV is a mechanism to show or mask these last 7 digits. It is a ronding mechanism. Only masking is a level down rounding. But cleverly a clear of register IV generate a 5 as seventh digit. Both together make a right rounding on the figures with values >=5.
(I was stuck with the idea that the clear is a failure. But with input of Gerald Sudan, my eyes got open on this primary school science. A link to more information.)

Previous owner(s): Volker  Stritzel , Duisburg, Germany. He got the machine from an 82 year old lady, who used the machine here self, until the nineteen eighties, as a wages clerk in the company Fremann und Wulf.
Cosmetic imperfections:
(I accuse no one)
hardly to find any. Oil made some smear, but all removable!!
Date of receiving: 2012-03-03 Picked it up in Duisburg.
Machine story: 2012-03-03 The machine manual driven by crank to find out the blocking cause. The adding and subtracting is holding the calculating cycle and prevent it from completing the cycle. The carriage removed and the calculation cycle was not coming to its rest position, it continues until I manually set the carriage position sensor to the begin position. The carriage mounted properly and after a few cycles the calculation stopped. Adding was blocking again. Oiling on the fatal locations didn't help. All the registers clearing, was successful. Only the IV register was behaving strange.

2012-03-04 decoupling this register IV from register I was successful. Adding subtracting and automatic multiply testing passed. The keyboard, the side plates and the carriage removed and severe cleaned. The carriage register IV needs some extra study / asking to other owners of 20AT or 20BT machines.

2012-03-05. Electrical tests successful. Used a self made male connector for the mains plug. It turns out that the back transfer of the result register to the front register is false. In general the digits are one to small, except the one and zero. The register IV problem still exists.

2012-03-06. With the valuable instructions, by email from Paul Breedveld, on the proper mounting of the carriage, the malfunctions disappeared: Correct counting results on register IV without blocking, resetting of register IV and back transfer of the result register to the front register is correct now as well. Thanks Paul!!

201203-07 The keyboard display showed the numbers on two digits in between two figures. This I have adjust on the dismantled keyboard.
The electrical plug I have upgraded to a more save one.
Please see the comments above on the "Extra's" on the masking the 7 digits / rounding issue.
