Machine story: A few month ago, a great collector of Hengelo (NL-Ov) and I, got an offer of fifteen machines in the second hand shop of the nearby city Oldenzaal. We split up that lot in good order. A Madas was drawing my attention the most and the others were bought to the attic, for wintertime's to explore.
Reading mr. C. Hamann, Berlin his web site shortly, I noticed his enthusiasm on his Monroe-811, and his remark that Monroe did outsource that machine to Olympia. Was there not an Olympia in the second hand shop deal?? YES it was, and it turned out to be the same machine, but with the Olympia name on it.
It is indeed a remarkable technological high standard machine. By the way the machine is working perfect no blocking or rigid moving parts!! Even the ink ribbon is doing well. My machine is not having the linefeed adjust,mr. C. Hamann's is talking about.
When the metal case is taken off, you see a remarkable close look to the Block of Pins (Stelstiftwagen DL) which is common / vital in 10key machines. Mostly this is somewhere hidden.
The pivoted printing unit gives an easy access to the complicated path of the ink ribbon and the paper roll is easy to replace.
What is written above, at the extras: the printing of negative numbers not as nine complements, is achieved by using the opposite gear, as used for positive results, for the printing negative numbers.
